Ken and Amanda McCarthy,(the first participant enrolled in the IMPROVED study) with Maeve O’Connell, Research Midwife Improved. Congratulations! The first participant enrolled in the IMPROvED clinical study at the Irish recruitment center, University College Cork. The event was widely covered in the national and local media, among them in the Irish Times, the Medical Independent as well as on leading Irish online health portal irishhealth.com.

The help of first-time mothers is vital to the success of IMPROvED.  Amanda McCarthy, (in photo with her husband Ken and Maeve O’Connell, our Research Midwife) said: “Pre-eclampsia can have a devastating outcome for both mums and babies.  By joining IMPROvED I feel that I am contributing to a better and more personalised approach to understanding the cause of this disease”.
