SCOPE study links antenatal depression with preeclampsia and SGA in obese women

Based on the findings of the SCOPE study (Screening for Pregnancy Endpoints), predecessor of IMPROvED, researchers were able to make the link between antenatal depression and preeclampsia and SGA in obese women.  Stress and mental disorders during pregnancy have been associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes; however little is known about how psychological factors interact with other maternal exposures, such as obesity. This study aimed to investigate the relationships between antenatal depression and preeclampsia and small for gestational age delivery (SGA), with BMI as an effect modifier.
